As Director of Aurora’s Cleveland office, Chip brings over 20 years of management and consulting experience to Aurora and its clients in the Great Lakes Region. Prior to joining Aurora, Mr. AuWerter was with Glass & Associates in New York and Ohio and most recently with The Pearce Group in Cleveland where he was Managing Partner with responsibilities for a variety of operational turnarounds and restructurings. He is a Cleveland native and a CTP who is an active member of the Ohio Chapter of the TMA. Chip is responsible for helping Aurora grow its client base in the Great Lakes Region while managing Aurora’s growing list of middle market clients in the healthcare, automotive and other manufacturing and distribution industries.
Mr. AuWerter has held a variety of management positions with various companies, including CEO, COO, CFO and CRO and has conducted business/operational assessments for over 25 companies. In addition, he brings the added experience to Aurora’s clients from his work with Booz, Allen & Hamilton where he was a Management Consultant and with Ford Motor Company where he was a Product Line Manager and Senior Product Planning Analyst.
Some of Chip’s recent client engagements include:
- Chief Restructuring Officer for a publicly traded regional full truckload carrier through a successful 12-month bankruptcy process.
- Interim CEO for a specialty beef slaughter and fabrication company generating $2 million of negative cash flow per month.
- Interim CEO of a contract manufacturer of beauty products over a 6-month bankruptcy process:
- Advisor to senior management of a publicly traded specialty healthcare services provider to help integrate an acquisition that represented twice the size of the acquiring entity.
- Advisor to senior management and equity owners of a plastic injection molding business with operations in the U.S. and Mexico.
Other engagements included:
- CRO and then CFO of a publicly traded specialty paper manufacturer through an 18 month bankruptcy process;
- CRO of a specialty toy manufacturer;
- Interim CFO of a regional hospital system;
- Interim COO of a large regional chain of InVitro Fertilization clinics.
- Consulting engagement leading and facilitating an effort by the Cleveland business community to identify operations improvements for the Cleveland Public Schools and subsequently for the City of Cleveland.
Chip has an M.B.A in Finance from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan and a B.S. Industrial Engineering from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania.
He and his wife Janet have two sons and a daughter and when he is not helping Aurora’s clients, he enjoys biking, golf, tennis and bridge.
