Aurora Adds Forensic Accounting Expertise to Staff

Atlanta, GA: Andy Barbee has joined Aurora Management Partners as a Director. He will be working out of the company’s Charlotte office but will provide support to any Aurora client that is involved in bankruptcy or requires fraud investigation expertise.

David Baker, Managing Director for Aurora said “Andy not only helps us expand our growing presence in the Carolinas but he brings extensive bankruptcy expertise to Aurora’s clients. Plus, as a seasoned forensic accountant, he will complement our growing business in representing unsecured creditor committees.”

Mr. Barbee’s experience includes advising companies and managing engagements that involve bankruptcy, divestitures, acquisitions, business valuation, and fraud investigation. In addition, he has extensive hands-on experience working with debtors and creditors in bankruptcy matters that includes everything from viability analysis, divestiture of assets and closing facilities and operations to business valuation, insolvency and preferential/fraudulent conveyances.

Most recently, Andy worked in the Economic Advisory Services (EAS) practice of Grant Thornton. The EAS practice assists clients in bankruptcy, business valuation, fraud investigations, and litigation support. When he was hired, the group had one person and less than $100,000 in revenues. Over his six years with the firm, Andy was integral to growing the EAS practice to over $6 million in revenues and 25 professionals.

Andy is a director and past president of the Turnaround Management Association, Carolinas Chapter; director and finance committee chair for the Children’s Law Center; and treasurer of the FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association.

Andy holds a BBA from Florida Atlantic University, a Masters of Accounting from Florida International University and is a Certified Public Accountant in North Carolina. He is also a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor and is accredited in Business Valuation by the American Institute of CPA’s. He resides in Charlotte, NC.
